A blog is good for a lot of things, like a little family history too. MUM, unless you want to write a million page epic, those gaps are huge.

Taps, I remember you always talking about your Grandma and Grandpa, and fantastic that you still have them in your life now! WOW. And that your boys will remember them too.

Jo, your life sounds so interesting and the love of any elders around you is what matters the most. So as you say heres to experience and lives to the full!rexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06483003532396329746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5787613090344936525.post-6506192204695040932011-09-27T17:43:40.464+10:002011-09-27T17:43:40.464+10:00I do love my grandparents and feel very lucky to h...I do love my grandparents and feel very lucky to have had them in my life for such a long time. I call them weekly and still stay with them atleast once a year even though I am nearly 40. There are many friends over the years who haven't had such a great or close relationship with their grandparents. It sounds like you hit the jackpot with both sides of the family. Beautiful memories to hold on to and every reason to miss them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5787613090344936525.post-79402291627830126072011-09-27T00:31:55.635+10:002011-09-27T00:31:55.635+10:00Yes. Hence I have(had) a second Granny who was completely fabulous with a sister - my great aunt who was a career woman sans children and who was history and research obsessed - and even though we were not 'blood' I have those women in my veins! Miss my amazing paternal grandmother too. All of them incredible world travellers. Miss my grandfathers - one gentle and so kind, and the other a scallywag in the most wonderous way. From many corners of the globe. Sigh. Here's to experience and lives lived in full.Johttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03953520166230356263noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5787613090344936525.post-40688615947467700212011-09-26T21:11:09.352+10:002011-09-26T21:11:09.352+10:00I'm right with you. In fact, missing them and being regretful about not knowing 'stuff', was what prompted the whole bloggy bizzo!Taniahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17520680195281725886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5787613090344936525.post-83329007233440510612011-09-26T20:34:56.286+10:002011-09-26T20:34:56.286+10:00Mmmmmmm I could fill in some gaps for you. What stories you have to tell your children about their ancestors. My 'old folk' are quiet boring and we didn't really know them as they lived in the UK and we lived in SA, so we really just grow up the four of us - mom, dad, sister and me - and that was the sum total of family here. The relatives seemed distant and not really real. I sometimes feel a little cheated that I too don't have wonderful stories like this to tell my kids - I think it is one of the reasons that my sister and me haven't moved far from our parents. Family, no matter how strange and eccentric, nutty and sometimes irritating are so important in forming and molding who we become for better or worse, they just add more dimension to life - as your post so richly details.Clarehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15257558585695736360noreply@blogger.com
