clay oven...I smell pizza!

So in other preparation for this arty bonfire celebration we have been working on this!

Sourcing the clay at the back of my parents place, and you can just see wayne there shoveling the goods into the wheelbarrow.

Whilst the the rest of us played hide and seek in the Thryptomene.

Back at our place Wayne and Jonah laid the fire bricks and then we all worked on the dome mould and layed newspaper over it ready for the layering of our handmade clay-bricks.

But first we had to mix clay, soil and water to make the correct texture. This was surely the fun part but quite a workout! Oh, and we had to sift 2 wheelbarrows of clay first!

Laying and making or inner layer of pizza oven.

Almost there! Will have some more photos at next stage.
phew exhausted!

  5. Rex, I really liked the comment you made on Baby Mac's post today and I came over to tell you so. I might be here a while as I cannot believe you are so cool as to be making your own pizza oven! Plus, I love the scuptures in your blog wallpaper so I'm going to browse for me. Glad I found you! x

  9. We put the thermal straw clay mix on this weekend, so hope it has dried out enough to cut the door out!. We are rather excited and will be posting progress as we go. In the mean time we have been collecting HUGE amounts of wood, sticks, branches for wayne to make his burning man sculpture. Thanks for all your enthusiasm!
