tulips

Well ...tulips are not my most fav flowers in the world, which reasons I won't entirely share, other than when they are thrown at you in a rage, they kinda of lose their appeal....... Anyway I have this scrap material thats been hanging around for a while and have no idea where it came from, but every time I am on one of my tidy up missions it turns up, and each time I just don't want to throw the damn thing out.

Its kinda funky in a egg yolk yellowy way and poo brown combo. It also reminds me of the curtains in my friends house when I was growing up, with their lime plastic green co-ordinated bathroom and windmill and clog adorned walls..... The patterns in that house are in-printed into my brain.
What I am trying to get to was...  does anyone have any ideas on how to use this fabric? Its 2 pieces sewn together at the top and only about .7 metres sq each.. just to add, I am a terrible sewer!  so if you have any ideas let us know...

Ps.. If you read this...flower thrower ...I am hoping you see the lighter side also...

  3. I know you gave me a pot plant of tulips once. What to I take from that!! I thing a curtain blind would be good with this material on a firm material like 'duck' would be cool cause you need to see it

  4. A little skirt for a little girl? A drawstring bag for books. Keep sewing the square and make it like a placemat for centre of table with bowl and stuff on it.
head scarfy thing, basic bag for groceries. Some ideas I hope

  10. I could see that material being used in a multi-media textile hanging. I have done a few, some are posted on my art blog and some posted on tess's textiles. Hugs!

  12. Hey Rex, ehem, I'll have you know that those colours I grew up with have come full circle - especially the particular shade of green of the moulded plastic bathroom features my parents put in. egg-yolk yellowy poo brown combo? nice. Our curtains were actually a burnt orange/earth brown combo - yah, funny what time does to the memory. Slip in a bit of poo brown? Why not.

  13. Ok.. ms king..true, it is funny what time does to the memory...but tell me did you or did you not have a dining table that had large circular type patterns in a similar brown combo colour covered over with a thick clear plastic cover??? and did you use to wear a blue shinny rain jacket with a zip at the front that matched my red shiny one with white pin stripes down the side....???? mmmm ( I saw all your older paintings had been put on your website, I nearly cried at the familiar images and the memory of it all) have they all gone?
